Summers are such a welcome break from the hectic schedules all year round .. No wonder we all look forward to our annual summer trips to various destinations ..
We went to Mukteshwar in Uttarkhand this year ..
Mukteshewar is a beautiful town that sits very high in Kumaon Hills at the altitude of 7500 ft above sea level  , it's in Nainital district .
The town derives it's name from  an 350-year-old temple of  Shiva, known as Mukteshwar Dham ..
Close to it lie the overhanging cliffs, locally known as Chauli-ki-Jali, used for rock climbing and rappelling, with an excellent view of the valleys below...

Mukteshwar is also the abode of a saint — Shri Mukteshwar Maharaj ji — who lived at the Top Cottage Temple where his samadhi is situated .
One of his disciples, Swami Sanshudhanand ji, now stays there. The whole temple complex is a Tapovan and an ideal place for meditation.
The beauty of this place is breathtakinlgy beautiful and untouched ..
What I love about this place is the sense of peace that engulfs a person right as you set foot into the town .. The people are very nice and friendly and if you're lucky , you might come across a leopard or a tiger very late into the evening when they come out for a stroll or to prey .
My personal favorite place is Chouli ki Jali , where one can sit on the rocks for hours and just do nothing but think ...
The view of the valley is absolutely mindblowing and the rocks are natural and huge ..
There are many stories behind this particular place , most of them are connected to the deity of the place Lord Shiva .
When the mist clears and the sun shines , you get to see the majestic range of Himalayas in the far distance ..
Though it rains almost everyday in Mukteshwar , it's never slushy or uncomfortable ..
It's scenic beauty and serenity is something one brings back along with fond memories and promises to come and visit again and again .... ...
